April 29 is a special day for a few reasons:
1. Tim's grandpa was shot down in World War II and taken prisoner.
2. Exactly one year later, again on April 29, he was liberated by General Patton.
3. What day did Tim enter the MTC? April 29
One year before the MTC, Tim spent the spring with his grandpa and worked every day with him in his garden. During that time, learned the law of the harvest literally; on his mission he learned it figuratively. Creamed peas and new potatoes is and was a favorite harvest meal in Tim's family.
The fact that these two men share a common date that marks pivotal events in there lives is worth recognizing. So we did. On April 29, I picked out some garden-fresh (okay, we don't have a garden, but we have a farmer's market!) peas and new potatoes and cooked them up. And it tasted amazing. I couldn't resist photographing the English shell peas and the finished dish...it's worth remembering!
